Friends,
My name is Kevin Riach, and I am running for the St. Paul School Board. As a former public school teacher, I will bring to the Board the new energy and new ideas we need to close the achievement gap in our schools and provide a world-class education for all students. Closing the gap is a moral imperative because it’s the right thing to do for our kids. It’s also an economic imperative– without well-educated, technologically-proficient high school graduates entering the workforce, or going on to higher education and bringing their skills back to our community, we won’t be able to maintain the high quality of life we enjoy in St. Paul.
To close the achievement gap, and improve education for all students, I believe we must focus on five priorities:
- Make every school a high-tech school.
- Ensure that the diversity of our teachers and staff mirrors the diversity of our students.
- Build strong partnerships with labor, the business community, and all levels of government.
- Involve the community and all our district’s stakeholders in developing grassroots solutions and celebrating success.
- Increase participation in our district’s Early Childhood education programs.
By taking these steps, we will give all St. Paul’s students the opportunity to be the best they can be. It’s the right thing to do- for our kids and for St. Paul!
CONGRESSWOMAN BETTY MCCOLLUM ENDORSES KEVIN RIACH!
